If you’re looking for tangible photography inspiration as an alternative to social media, the photo book always works. Among the latest titles you can add to your bookshelf and coffee table readings is “Enter the Forest,” a showcase of film photography that profiles the “calm and unobtrusive side” of German forests.

According to Hamburg-based film photographer Alexandre Miguel Maia, he began working on this book in 2014. His goal was to share his observations on the quiet and unique charm of forests, captured in the timeless beauty of medium format film. He also applied a minimalist design with short texts to provide a distraction-free viewing experience for readers. Are you into landscape and nature photography yourself? The book is a visual opportunity to draw inspiration from the “transient moments of an ever-changing flora.”

“It’s a great feeling that after such a long time the book is now finished and ready to get printed,” Alex also said. He added that he is set to publish “Enter the Forest” with German independent publishing house Kehrer Verlag, which specializes in high quality photo books and fine art publications.

However, as with many independent photo book projects, publishing and distributing the book is costly. So, he recently started crowdfunding its production through a Kickstarter campaign. With a pledge of €48 or more, you get a signed copy of the book plus two random postcards. Definitely check it out if you want more details, support the project and get add-ons along with your copy!
