At some point in your photography practice, you’ll most likely feel like putting together a photo project. It can either be a collection of your best snaps compiled into a book. Or, it can be a long-term body of work that you shoot within months or years. However, it’s understandably a daunting undertaking. If this is something you want to do to either level up your photography or build a career out of it, today’s photography inspiration is especially worth your while.

In the video above, Scott French shared the story behind the photo project that launched his fine art career. The fine art photographer and educator covers everything you need to know to embark on your own project, starting from coming up with a concept and planning it out, to post-processing the final selection. While he centers on fine art photography, his tips and suggestions still apply to whatever kind of photography you want to do.

Granted that the entire creative process is different for everyone, his insights will still prove useful for anyone who wants to get started. Sometimes, you just need a push to get the ball rolling. Hopefully, French’s tips and story will inspire you to finally give photo projects a go.
