Moving on from the messiness of life and photography business, or trying to be a business, or not really wanting to be a business but feeling like that is what you are ‘supposed’ to do. Yes, moving on from that. Because it’s what we do, it’s what I do. Move on. I’m guessing that I’m not the only one who continually goes through this cycle of what to do with my photography.
Moving on but not missing the view

Moving on does not mean not stopping to look around. If you are a creative person in any way, you do a lot of looking around. It’s what inspires us, gives us ideas and spurs us on to continue creating.
I was reminded of this as I presented my “Seeing the world around you” presentation at the Arlington Heights Camera Club. I’m always apprehensive to do these things. Nervous and just unsure if what I have to talk about matters. I question myself every time. Why do I keep doing this? Do I want to do this? What is the reason I do this?
To the point that I felt in the last few weeks, I’ll be done presenting after the next one that’s on the calendar. Move on.
There’s always a but, isn’t there?
All it takes is that one person who came up to me and told me they haven’t been inspired like that for a long time and hadn’t picked up their camera for over two months. That they are now so inspired they’ll be heading out today to take photos the day after the presentation.
That makes it worth it. Just one person.
So, keep moving but don’t forget to stop and SEE the world around you. Inspire and be inspired.
My local library inspires me. The light in the building is beautiful. The shadows created are interesting. It’s a creative space. Be in that space.
