Welcome to Shutter Notes, our weekly community feature. Shutter Notes gives you the chance to get to know our community members a bit better. Each member will share a little bit about themselves and their chosen image.
Elaine Hambley has snapped photos for years but wasn’t really into photography until 15 years ago when she realized that she looks at the world differently from other people. She is a retired Colorado transplant and now devotes more time to doing what she enjoys most.
Why and how Elaine created this image
This is a rose variety called Queen Elizabeth that grew in her garden in Maryland. Elaine was not quite happy with the original photo’s color or clarity, so she decided to play with the colors. She has recently discovered what fun photo editing can be.
For post-processing Elaine cropped the original fairly close to make a square composition. The original was a washed-out pink. By playing with the individual colors of red, blue and green, she created the indigo that she ended up with.
Elaine loves how liberating and fun it is to play with images to see what can be done.

It is good to see Elaine featured, she is a creative soul who sees photography as an art form and not just a technical exercise.
Thank you Iain!
