Radiant Photo launched into the mobile world with Radiant: AI Photo & Video Editor last month. The app is a fantastic tool for photographers editing on the go, with intelligent scene detection and automatic AI editor. For a limited time, you can try the Pro version of Radiant Photo for mobile free. Get 90 days of access, completely unrestricted, to try all the features yourself.

Radiant Photo has been available on desktop for a while, but it’s newly available for Android and iPhone devices. It comes in a free-forever version and a Pro version. The free version gives you access to smart scene detection and the unique auto-enhancements that Radiant boasts. It also lets you batch edit up to five photos. You can adjust the auto-enhancement with a single slider to control how much it applied.

In the Pro version, however, you get access to all the settings. Workflow is logically arranged left to right across the bottom of the screen: Enhance, Develop, Portrait, LOOKs and Finishing (which is coming soon, at the time of writing). Everything can be fine-tuned down to the finest detail. Let’s take a look at some of the settings under the hood of Radiant: AI Photo & Video Editor.

Fine-tuning settings in Radiant: AI Photo & Video Editor

Radiant Photo excels at detecting what’s in a photo and then applying the right settings for the job. With the Pro version for mobile you can fine-tune everything to taste.

For this batch I’ve started by selecting all the photos I want to edit.

Click the batch icon in the top left to choose multiple photos to edit.

Radiant: AI Photo & Video Editor immediately goes to work on detecting and applying the best settings based on the scene. In the Enhance tab, control the overall Smart Preset applied with the slider. Then, in Develop, you have fine-grained control over everything.

The Pro version of Radiant Photo for mobile gives you fine-grained control over all the Develop settings, so you can get your photo looking just the way you like it.

Some of the Develop settings I often tweak are:

Tone > Exposure

Tone > Super Contrast

Color > Color Contrast

Super Contrast and Color Contrast work together. If Super Contrast is set to zero, then Color Contrast won’t do much. Turn up your Super Contrast and you’ll really see the difference.

For outdoor photos with plants or landscapes, the Sky Enhance and Foliage Enhance (both in Develop > Color) are useful to use too. These do as they say and enhance the blues and greens in the image, respectively.

Using the natural portrait retouching tools

I love how Radiant Photo gives you all the tools in one place that you need to develop, retouch and color grade photos for your own unique style. The portrait retouching tools are powerful. Wedding photographers, portrait photographers and content creators alike will find these useful.

The Portrait tools have a range of different options that give powerful results in seconds.

Adjusting the settings gives you full control over your portrait edits.

There are also physical retouching tools that can change the shape of faces and eyes. I have focused on skin retouching here.

As well as fine-tuning Exposure, Super Contrast and Color Contrast, I’ve fine-tuned the following Portrait settings in Ai Retouch to get this effect:

  • Eyes > Eye Enhance, Dark Circles and Catchlights
  • Skin > Smooth Skin and Blemish Removal

Applying LOOKs for unique and fully-controlled color grading

LOOKs are Radiant Photo’s color grading style tools. They are separated from the develop settings which makes it easy to control fully your photos style. These effects can be quite subtle and traditional:

Or quite stylised and dramatic:

There’s LOOKs for a lot of different purposes built in to the editor. Fine-tune each one from the default settings, to control Strength, Saturation and Contrast. Click the LOOK a second time after applying, to adjust the settings.
