Renee Vanheck is a wife, mom, grandma, and home childcare provider. She has always loved photography but over the past few years invested in a DSLR. Renee is a hobbyist, always learning and loves all photography. Although, she is not really into doing portraits. She has learned a lot from fellow photographers and has met a lot of good friends. Renee just absolutely loves this hobby!

Why and how Renee created this image

This is a scene from Plaza Street in Charleston, West Virginia. Renee kind of felt like this represented a walk down memory lane. She likes the old-time feel along with the textured brick street and the old clock.

For post-processing, Renee edited in Lightroom and Snapped, but since she is just beginning to play with editing, she doesn’t know exactly what she did to get this look. As she is learning she says it’s a lot of trial and error.

While creating this image and playing with the editing of it she learned that it’s good to step out of your comfort zone. For whatever reason, it was easy for her to go out in public shooting with others, but, once she is her own she is self-conscious about photographing. She wants to work on this.

Renee was glad she overcame her anxiety on this day. She really enjoyed the feeling of the photo. It made her feel nostalgic.
