Why and how Mary created this image

A pensive moment between a man and his Negroni was created in a corner of a very tiny apartment.

Mary says, “Getting the right shot is like waiting for the planets to align at just the right moment – mood, lighting, technical stuff, the model – it doesn’t happen all that often. This photo is one of those that just hit all the right notes for me.”

The image was edited lightly. Mary lifted the black and took a bit of the edge off of the highlights. The image was created using a Tiffen Black Pro-Mist 1/2 filter.

During the process, she learned to not overthink it. Create the right atmosphere, get the technical stuff lined up and just see what happens. The look the model gave was a complete accident and yet it made the photo.
