Calling all video creators: Whether you’re a professional or starting out, you can’t miss the Video Creators Virtual Summit starting February 18. It’s free to attend: Yes, free! Get your free pass to access over 50 classes run by expert instructors including Photofocus publisher Rich Harrington and others in our team.

Let’s dive into some of the highlights I’m most excited for. As a video ultra-noob it’s exciting that training like this is available. By registering for a free ticket to the conference, you’ll get access to two free mini-courses to watch before the summit expires (read on for how to keep forever access to these and the entire conference). The Summit is sponsored by Mylio Photos (check out how their software can help you organize your entire media collection here) and Adobe, and includes discount access to Adobe Certified Professional accreditation. Let’s get into it!

Get access to free training for video creators in Adobe Premier Pro and Adobe After Effects

This year’s Video Creators Virtual Summit is actually two virtual summits in one: The Adobe Premier Pro Virtual Summit and the After Effects Virtual Summit. For video creators looking to make an impact with their work, knowing these two apps inside out is essential. But these aren’t the only apps that will be covered. There’s unique lessons on how Photoshop can help your video production and fundamental planning techniques such as storyboarding.

The Summit runs from February 18 to February 22, 2024. Once you register for a free pass, you’ll get access to the pre-training, and then get your schedule of classes each day for the duration of the Summit. The free pass gives you access to each class for 48 hours after it goes live.

What if you’re not able to catch your must-see class on the day? Don’t worry. There’s a VIP Pass which will give you unlimited lifetime access to recordings of the classes in the Virtual Summit, so that you can study at your pace and not miss a thing. You also get a bunch of extras: class notes, additional videos, cheat sheets, presets, templates, and forever access to the pre-training mini courses. You also get discount access to the Adobe Certified Professional qualification. Get your VIP Pass here with early bird pricing up until 12 pm EST on February 18, 2024.

Ok, let’s get into the highlights! There’s so many classes and you should check out the full list here. There are classes for everyone from beginners to professionals. The included pre-training is not compulsory to complete before joining the Summit classes, but is there for anyone needing a crash course in Premier Pro and After Effects. Take advantage to make the most of the rest of the classes.

Here’s some of the sessions I’m most excited for.

Don’t miss Rich Harrington’s classes on using Photoshop for video

Our very own publisher Rich Harrington (who is also an Adobe Certified Trainer) literally wrote the book on using Photoshop for Video. In his training series for the Virtual Summit you can expect to explore this in depth. Rich will be teaching 10 Ways to Use Photoshop with Adobe Premier Pro, to get you on top of these essential skills. Problem-solving with LUTs and reverse engineering advanced color recipes are not to be missed in this class.

Rich will also be showing you how to bring photographs to life with motion and depth in After Effects with his class Motion Control 3D: Bringing Photos to Life in After Effects. You’ll explore how to move seamlessly between Photoshop and After Effects to add 3D perspective and motion to layers in your photograph.

Have a look at Rich’s instructor profile here to get the full details of these two classes and the others Rich is teaching, including Creating Accessible Video with Adobe Premier Pro, and Mastering Content Aware Fill in After Effects. (Click the profile pictures on the instructor page to watch a short video interview with each instructor!)

As an Adobe Certified Professional in Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Video Design, make sure you add Andy’s classes to your must-watch list for the week.

Andy will be delivering An Intro to After Effects Expressions. These add fun and efficiency to your workflow in After Effects. They are powerful functions which will save you time. Learning how to create them is a core After Effect skill.

Also on Andy’s class list for the week is Text Me: A Guide to Animating Text in After Effects. In this course, you’ll go from text animation newbie to intermediate text animator. Glyn Dewis: Join classes for real world skills in organizing and creating your first video

I’m particularly excited for Glyn’s course on Plan, Record, Edit – Creating your First Video. As a newcomer to video, it’s getting started that I need guidance on. Glyn will cover essential planning techniques like storyboarding that will save time shooting, as well as how to record video and audio content. After that, it’s to the edit room. He’ll show how to bring it all together, including using stock video, music and sound to produce a polished final video.

Glyn is also teaching Masking Essentials for Adobe Premier Pro. You can read more about this class on the instructor profile page.

John Knowles: Using Adobe AI features with After Effects

John Knowles is an Adobe Creative Cloud trainer with extensive experience. He is bringing that expertise to the table in his course Adobe AI Tools Integration with After Effects. If there’s a hotter topic in the creative industries than generative AI, I challenge you to find it. In this class John will show you how to unlock the full potential of AI with your After Effects projects.

He will be covering how to use After Effects with Adobe Firefly, and integrating these cutting-edge tools into your workflow. For anyone ready to elevate their creativity to the next level with Adobe’s AI tools, this course is your gateway.
