As you probably know, Fractal Noise is an effect that has tons of uses. In this tutorial, we’ll create a transition with it.

Start by creating a solid and adding the Fractal Noise effect. Choose fractal settings that give your desired look. Then, increase the Contrast so that there are more black and white areas in your fractal.

Next, set a keyframe for Brightness where you want your transition to begin. Bring the value down until the screen is completely black. Then, where you want your transition to end, bring the value up so the screen is completely white. On the layer you want to be revealed, set the Track Matte to Luma Matte. Now, Fractal Noise will reveal your layer over the given time.

To enhance the effect, set keyframes for other Fractal Noise settings over time. Try Evolution, Offset Turbulence and more.
