It’s time to make your voice heard! Each week, we ask a question of our readers so we know what sort of content to produce more of. Your input helps us make Photofocus better.
With warmer climes come plans for travel and the exciting photo opportunities that come with it. So this week, we are wondering, what photography gear/accessory never leaves your tool kit when you travel? Is it something you use exclusively for travel photos, or for a variety of photography projects? Let us know below, and tell us in the comments or in the Photofocus Community why that is!

This shouldn’t be a single-choice question. It’s going to depend on the type of travel, the destination, and the duration. The reality is this will be a combination of things for most trips, and scaled down to a bare minimum for some. Most trips for me will involve a DSLR-like camera with a quality kit lens, 50mm, a telephoto, and a tripod. A backpacking trip will be much different: smaller quality camera (Canon RP for example) with a 50mm — and that’s it, opting for weight over versatility and assuming everything hand-held.
Hi Sean, this was supposed to be a multiple answer/choice poll, so that’s fixed. Thanks for the catch and sharing your thoughts!
