No matter how expansive one’s lighting kit may be, there’s always room for an economical, versatile and low-profile LED light. Shame on me for not knowing much about RaLeno until they sent me their PLV-S192 Video Light to review.

My immediate impression was that the 13-inch panel size is useful. If you’re like me, you probably have an army of small lights and big lights. But this sits right in-between to offer lighting assistance in a variety of indoor and outdoor use cases. The light is extremely thin and portable.

This light shines for conference calls and video streaming. It produces an even and pleasant soft light through 192 beads. I also think it is quite serviceable for other video and photography uses, and can be a great fill light in larger setups. With illumination of 650lux, a 3200-5600K color temperature range, and a CRI>95 rendering index, this panel light has the capabilities and color accuracy of other well-known players.

I think RaLeno did an excellent job on the LED screen because it’s bright and easy to read. The brightness and color controls are simple to accurately spin with your finger. Attention to details like these is the mark of good manufacturing and design.

Two built-in 4000mAh batteries get you over 90 minutes of production time at full power, and a convenient port and included power adapter allow you to work uninterrupted. Heat dissipation holes disperse heat to maintain even temperature during marathon lighting sessions. The light has a standard ¼” screw hold and ships with a handy cold shoe that uses double-hole fixation.
