Are people truly happy with their office chairs? Most of us read reviews and think we’ve purchased the “right” chair, only to find out after extensive use that it isn’t that great. I think the FlexiSpot C7 Ergonomic Office Chair may change that.
When I received the chair to review, it felt solid. The chairs that I’ve purchased at similar price points look weak next to the FlexiSpot C7. You can appreciate the construction during assembly, which you can completely do by yourself. But if you don’t have a high patience level, another pair of hands makes it much more efficient. I did have an issue with one bolt going in, but the chair ships with spare bolts so there was no need to worry.
Once I sat in the chair, I noticed two key features that other chairs I’ve used have failed to deliver upon. First, the wheels roll extremely well and have fluid 360-degree movement. Second, the arms of the chair have no shake to them (I’m referring to the part of the arm bolted to the seat up to the armrests). Other chairs begin to wiggle here after light usage, and I’m delighted that this annoyance is now a thing of the past.
My chair came with the mesh seat. While I have always had some type of foam seat, the mesh is honestly quite comfortable even though it may look otherwise. It allows for breathability and flexibility. The 5” seat clearance, strong build quality and roomy seat dimensions should be perfect for an array of body types and working styles. Shorter people may feel swallowed in the chair, but you could easily sit cross-legged if that is your preferred workflow. The FlexiSpot C7 supports up to 300 lbs.

You can slouch in any chair, but the design of this chair makes you want to have good posture. The adjustable lumbar support is one of the best I’ve seen. You can position it forward or backward as needed by unlocking the lever. Having lumbar support separate from the back of the chair is a smart design, and I do not feel as much pressure, pain, or fatigue compared to prior chairs. Back soreness has been a problem with many desk chairs in my life. But I’d go so far as to say it’s better than the lumbar support in my car’s driver seat. So far, so good with the FlexiSpot C7, although extended time will tell.

The FlexiSpot C7 offers a lot of other adjustments, too. The left underside lever locks in the tilt angle of the chair back, which ranges from 93-114 degrees. The right side has 4 adjustments. One changes your seat bottom angle, one adjusts the tension in your back tilt, one adjusts the seat height and one move the seat in/out from the back of the chair.

One drawback of the chair’s adjustments is its limited seat height range. Other chairs allow 5” of adjustment, and my model seems to adjust less than 2.5” of height. Minor point, as it adjusts to the level I need, but worth mentioning.
Two other adjustments are possible. You can lift and angle the headrest as needed. I find this offer great support when you need a break and want to angle the chair back. Another adjustment you can make involves the armrests. You can push a button to move them up or down. You can also manually turn them left, right, forward or backward.
Two things to keep in mind when adjusting the armrests. First, the button is under the armrest, but on the front of the arm. So, are you are the type to roll your chair close to your desk so that your armrests are slightly over the desk? The desk will push in on the adjustment button. Also, note that the top armrests are relatively easy to move, so they probably will not stay where you put them. But, I’ll take slightly moving armrests over wiggly fixed arms any day of the week.
