Adobe just posted some information regarding the compatibility of the not-yet-released Lightroom 6, and operating systems for Mac and Windows. To read the update, go here.
In summary, Lightroom 6 will require that your OS (Operating System) is up-to-date with a recent versions of Mac or Windows. Here’s what you will need in order to run Lightroom 6 (when it is released):
- Mac: OS X 10.8 or above
- Windows: A 64 bit version of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1
For users with older software (Mac OS X 10.7, or a 32 bit version of Windows) they mention the following:
… you will continue to be able to install and run Lightroom 5 and use Lightroom mobile. However, you will not be able to install Lightroom 6 until you upgrade to a supported operating system.
For Mac OS X 10.7 users, you can update for free (click here).
For Windows users, you can use this link to determine if your system is 32-bit or 64-bit.
