Why I picked this image: If you have followed my weekly curated street photography picks over the past months, you must have noticed that I have a stong attraction to street photography with a documentary character. And while I searched the long list of photos to choose this weeks featured photographer, I came across this image and was stunned!

Not only is this a technically perfect black & white photo with interesting leading lines to the main subject. This is also a single image that shows the hard labour involved by workers in leather factories. Please take the time and study this image closely. The look in the eye and the sweat running down the throat give you a strong impression of how hard of a labour it must be to carry those heavy leather skins all day in a tropical climate.

I am so fascinated by this image that it would not have surprised me to see it in one of Sebastião Salgado’s documentary photography books! Mohammad, thank you for sharing this photo-gem in our Photofocus group.
