Photograph: “Oona” by Darko Sikman
Fashion doesn’t have to be ordinary as Darko Sikman shows us in his photograph “Oona.” A distressed wall that could a set from Pygmalion is the background for a the model who is dressed as a bedraggled waif from London in the early 1900’s. The styling is impeccable down to the dirt on her fingers. The dress, the torn scarf in her hair and the cloth banding her braids, all add to the effect. Her pose is almost carefree despite her apparent less than prosperous circumstances. All of this is offset by her creamy skin, porcelain face and burgandy lips.
