Curious about the Pentax K-3 III Monochrome? Maybe you’re looking for an alternative to the Leica M Monochrom. Or, you now want to get serious about shooting only black and white, and this camera may just be the tool you need. Either way, Samuel Lintaro Hopf shares his first thoughts on the new camera to satisfy your curiosity.

He covered a lot in his quick review of the camera, which he used for landscape and street photography. Essentially a K-3 III with a different sensor, this model is Pentax’s response to the community’s vote for a monochrome camera.

Apart from first and final impressions and some sample photos, he also shared his insights on the body design and how the monochrome sensor’s performance compares to the color sensor. As a Pentax user in the past, he found it interesting to also share his history with Pentax DSLRs, and how the new K-3 III Monochrome felt familiar.
