The latest update for Adobe Lightroom Classic includes a small preference setting option that may come as a welcome addition to some: the ability to swap the left and right panel groups. This can done either just in the Develop Module, or in all modules if so desired. While many users are content with the current configuration, left-handed users may find this to be one of the most beneficial updates yet.

How to swap the left and right panels on Lightroom Classic

  1. While in Lightroom Classic, click on Lightroom Classic > Preferences > Interface.
  2. Check either “Swap only Develop Left and Right Panel Groups” or “Swap Left and Right Panel groups,” depending on your preference.
  3. Restart Lightroom Classic. Your interface will now be updated to your preferences.
Before: The traditional left and right panel configuration in the Develop Module.
After: The left and right panels switched in the Develop Module.

While this update will only be beneficial for a small subset of users, it has the potential to greatly increase their user experience. This especially holds true for left-handed users who process images on a screen such as a Wacom. This new configuration will allow them to better see their image while making adjustments in the Develop module.
