As a global leader in professional audio solutions, Saramonic stands for quality. Their new microphone system is billed as the “Ultimate” 2-channel wireless microphone system. Luckily, I was sent one to review. So, let’s find out!

Saramonic Ultra — Build quality and design

The Ultra is a 2-person wireless clip-on lavalier microphone system. The case and products are well-made and thoughtfully designed. It’s small and lightweight. The transmitters have a small profile and boast an IPX5 waterproof rating. I safely recorded 10-hours of audio at 32-bit, but you can get several more hours of battery life with 24-bit on a single charge.

There is an external antenna on the receiver that provides stable performance up to 300 meters (almost 1,000 feet). 128-bit encryption keeps your audio signal safe and secure. Expect about 6 hours of battery life here.

It’s a 90-minute charge time via charging case or USB-C (although with the charging case, it may actually be another ~15 minutes for a full system charge). The system has everything you need for device compatibility, mounting, wind protection, and carrying/storage.

Saramonic Ultra — Timecode sync

The Ultra offers seamless audio/video integration with Timecode. In my testing, it was frame accurate, and that led to efficiencies during post-production.

Saramonic Ultra — Clarity

The unit features ClearVoice™ Technology, which enhances vocal clarity through intelligent noise cancellation. A Vocal Boost feature raises vocal clarity by reducing non-vocal frequencies. Low-Cut Mode eliminates unneeded noise by eliminating undesired low frequencies. To ensure consistent audio levels, an Automatic Gain Control adjusts to the surrounding noise without the need for manual intervention. This is useful if recording in areas with A/C or traffic noise.

Saramonic Ultra — Flexibility

You can capture a wide dynamic range with this microphone, ensuring distortion-free audio in an array on environments. This is thanks to 130dB SPL, which reduces distortion. 32-bit float onboard recording delivers top-notch sound quality. There is also 8GB of onboard storage. So, the Ultra provides ultimate flexibility in a variety of productions and use cases.
