Firework photos require the shutter be open for long periods. Ambient light can creep in between bursts of exploding visual goodness. Prevent this by holding a black card over the lens until the streak of firework heads into the sky. Remove the card. When the burst is finished cover the lens once again.

I absolutely love photography. I have a definite passion for it and with the 4th of July just recently happening I have always had such a hard time getting good pictures of the fireworks. I have a pretty technical camera. There is even this setting for fireworks and even when I use it I still get bad quality pictures of the fireworks. How frustrating is that? This new hack that you have talked about is great! I never thought that It would work but It really does and is so simple. Thank you so much for sharing your hack.
Glad this tip helped.
I am a Graphic Expert and amateur photographer. Previously I always had to do lots of Photoshop edit on fireworks photo but this hack will help me to save time on editing. Thanks a lot for sharing this technique.
