A Retro-Inspired Classic Designed for Modern Storytelling

Thypoch has officially unveiled the new Thypoch Ksana 35mm f/2 ASPH, a compact M-mount lens that combines the timeless visual language of 1980s photography with modern optical engineering. Designed for photographers who appreciate classic rendering and tactile craftsmanship, the new Ksana 35mm f/2 ASPH delivers a refined shooting experience for street, portrait, documentary, travel, and landscape photography.

Built around the classic 35mm focal length, the Ksana offers a natural perspective that feels equally at home capturing environmental portraits, layered street scenes, and cinematic travel moments. Compact and lightweight at just 198.6g, with a slim 27mm profile from flange to front element, the lens is designed as an everyday companion that slips easily into any camera bag, or even a jacket pocket.

One of the standout features of the Ksana 35mm f/2 ASPH is Thypoch’s new Epoch Coating 84’, inspired by the distinctive flare characteristics and warm tonal rendering of vintage optics from the 1980s. Drawing on the company’s experience in cinema lens development, the coating recreates the nostalgic gold-purple flare and cinematic warmth that defined an era of photography, while maintaining the clarity and performance expected from modern optics.

The lens itself is crafted from solid brass and is available in both black paint and silver finishes. The black version pays tribute to classic rangefinder lenses with a subtle semi-gloss oil-based finish, while the silver edition offers a clean metallic aesthetic designed to pair beautifully with silver-bodied cameras. Both versions include a crescent-shaped focus tab for intuitive manual focusing, along with a tactile resistance point at 0.7m to indicate the traditional rangefinder focusing limit.

Behind its vintage-inspired exterior is a modern optical design featuring 8 elements in 5 groups, including one aspherical element, one extra-low dispersion element, and two high refractive index elements. This configuration helps deliver excellent sharpness, controlled aberrations, and smooth, natural bokeh. Combined with a fast f/2 aperture and a minimum focusing distance of 0.5m, the lens is designed to create strong subject separation and rich depth with a classic rendering style.

The Thypoch Ksana 35mm f/2 ASPH is available immediately through the Thypoch Official Store and authorised dealers worldwide.

The standard version includes the lens, front and rear caps, and warranty card, with a retail price of USD $599. A second version, which also includes a dedicated lens hood, is available for USD $649.
