So, you’ve just decided to focus your photography practice on street photography. You must be curious about what the journey would be like for you ,or what lessons you’ll pick up along the way. The road to capturing life as it unfolds out in the streets is dynamic and interesting, as you’ll soon find out. However, if you’re particularly curious about the key realizations of your fellow street photographers on the craft, today’s photography inspiration is for you.

In the video above, Roman Fox shared five lessons he learned from doing street photography for five years. A good number of them are simple things that make a big difference in how you see the world through the lens.

Shooting what’s around you instead of thinking that you’ll take better photos in all these “Instagrammable” locations is a good example. Not only will it allow you to practice photography consistently, but also let you develop an eye for capturing the extraordinary in everyday scenes.

Another important lesson is to keep things simple — from the way you tackle street photography tips and techniques, to your gear setup. This way, you avoid getting confused from trying to learn everything all at once. Likewise, it will be easier for you to master your camera if you start with a simple setup.
