Hohem’s new iSteady MT3 Pro gimbal has AI tracking and is lightweight yet carries heavier mirrorless and DSLR cameras easily.
With its introduction at the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the iSteady MT3 brings filmmakers pro level features at very affordable prices. I was provided this product by Hohem for this review.
Key iSteady MT3 Pro features
The Hohem iSteady MT3 Pro delivers smoother tracking and more flexible control with AI Tracking, Detachable Live Feed Monitoring Touchscreen Remote, 5.5 lb (2.5 kg) payload, 2nd-generation fast vertical format switching and many accessories for additional versatility.
AI tracking for humans, pets, vehicles and other subjects
The iSteady MT3 Pro has a built-in 2 megapixel camera and an AI engine trained on millions of images of people, animals, vehicles, buildings and many more subjects. It can recognize and track subjects while the filmmaking camera is shooting along with their movements.
It’s easy to set up AI tracking. On the removable touchscreen, draw a box around the subject. Double tap the box to start tracking. Double tap again to stop. The button on the iSteady MT3 Pro’s handle will also start or stop tracking. One great feature is tracking control by the subject. Using a gesture tracking is started or with another gesture, stopped. This is great for mulit media journalists who are the one-person band of news gathering for social media.
Detachable remote touchscreen with live view feed
The iSteady MT3 Pro’s removable remote means complete control of high or low angles. It works from a distance of up the 30 feet (10 meters) via a low-latency Bluetooth connection. While the 1.4 inch diagonal screen is really tiny, it does the job even though I have to wear readers to see it. The best part is my camera can be above me on a tall tripod or other support and I can control it from the ground. No ladder needed to start or stop the camera or reposition it!
It works great for low angle shots, too.
Robust payload capacity for most modern cameras/lens combos
Hohem’s iSteady MT3 Pro boasts a large capacity to carry heavier loads. Topping out at 5.5 pounds or 2.5 kilograms it handles many camera and lens configurations with ease. The 40% increase in motor strength over previous versions deliver smooth camera movement even when a 24-70 f/2.8 lens is mounted along with microphone, fill lights and a camera cage.
The iSteady MT3 Pro handles cameras from action cams (GoPro, Insta 360, DJI) smart phones like the iPhone 17 Pro Max and pro cameras from Canon, Nikon, Panasonic and Sony.
iSteady MT3 fast vertical switch
One of my pet peeves with gimbals is how hard it is to move from a landscape to a portrait format by reorienting the camera. The Hohem iSteady MT3 Pro makes this a simple five-step solution: Unlock, slide the camera off the rail, rotate, slide back on and relock. Done.
Pro only mini-motor
The Hohem iSteady MT3 Pro has a .2 pound or 90 gram motor that can rack focus or zoom a lens on the camera mounted on the gimbal. An additional pro benefit is the bi-directional twist handle for added versatility and stability.
