I adore fantasy and fairytales. A beloved book from my childhood was The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe: The Chronicles of Narnia. I am running a photoshoot in July, with this very theme and I wanted to get some marketing images. So, I asked model Emily Reinhard to join me in the studio. We tried on costumes and played with swords, bows and arrows and various other props. I wanted a dark, moody, romantic feel to my images. Here’s how I got the photo.

How I got the photo: Setting the scene

I had a gorgeous vintage brown backdrop from Kate Backdrop and an old vintage chair as my main props. Emily was dressed in a green medieval-styled dress, belt, headpiece. I used a Hobolite Pro a 300W constant LED Light, with the lantern on the carbon fibre light stand as my only light source. The lantern is large enough to throw gorgeous light LED Continuous light. I positioned my light in a Paramount position, 450 angle from the model, up quite high, and angled down. The bottom of the lantern was roughly level with Emily’s head.

How I got the photo: Camera settings

Sony a7R V and Sony 50mm f/1.4 GM lens. ISO 640, f/2.8, shutter speed 1/320 seconds. The Hobolite Pro was on 100%. Emily noted that, unlike other constant lights, the Lantern on the Hobolite Pro was not blinding to look at.
