When you do street photography, you’re compelled to observe your environment more carefully and intently. The goal is to incorporate the surroundings so it highlights or enhances the visual story you want to capture. This is where composition comes into the picture.
In the video above, Faizal Westcott shares a simple trick for improving street photography composition. Incorporating what you find in the environment as foreground elements, he said, can instantly improve your photos. For starters, you can use it to add depth or context to your scene. Or, you can also use it as a framing tool to enhance an ordinary scene. But if you want to get more experimental, you can also use reflections to add an abstract touch to your snaps.
