Now that the news of DPReview.com closing soon has started to sink in, photographers are now weighing in on the weight of its impending demise. Among them is Alex Kilbee of The Photographic Eye, who is understandably troubled by the heartbreaking news.

This is no doubt DPR will be missed. Over the years I have read their camera reviews if for no other reason than understanding the advancing flow of the technology that is going into cameras. And yes, their info, and that of other such on-line publications have guided my procurements.

I learned a lot from DPR. The forum was wild and woolly, with lots of arguments about fine points of technology. In the end it made me realize that within limits, the technology isn’t that important – you just need to understand those limits.
