Remember the Contax 45mm f/2 Zeiss Planar lens? Released in the 1990s alongside the Contax G system, it’s still considered by many as one of the best vintage lenses you can still grab today. But, what if you can pair this acclaimed lens with a Leica M camera?
That’s exactly the trick that photographer and cinematographer Casey Cavanaugh shared in the video above. With the help of a company called Funleader, you can now give this a go with a Contax G 45 F2 to Leica M Conversion Kit. It’s incredibly easy to do, and won’t take more than two minutes max, according to Cavanaugh.
Of course, he also did a quick demonstration to prove how easy it is to do the switch. He also noted that since the conversion is reversible, you essentially have one lens for two systems. This also means that if your all-electronic Contax G fails, you can still use the Contax 45mm lens with a Leica M mount camera. How cool is that?
