As someone who spends a lot of time shooting macro with proper cameras and dedicated lenses, I’ll admit I was sceptical about a budget-friendly clip-on macro lens for a phone. But the Neewer LS-67 Macro & Wide-Angle Lens Kit for Mobile genuinely surprised me — in the best way.

I tested it with my Samsung S25+, which already has a decent macro mode, but this little filter elevated it to something really creative. The build quality feels solid and well-made for its ~$50 price point. The lenses are housed in metal with multi-coated glass, and the clip attaches securely without scratching or slipping.

The 15x macro lens is the real star here. You can get extremely close, filling the frame with textures you’d miss otherwise: veins on a leaf, tiny water droplets, delicate details in petals. What really won me over was the character of the images — they felt almost like something shot with a Lensbaby lens — soft, dreamy, and artistic, yet still with pockets of sharp detail where it counts. It’s more than just a magnifier; it turns your phone into a creative tool.

The kit also includes a 0.45x wide-angle lens, which screws onto the macro element. While it does widen the field of view, it comes with noticeable drawbacks: strong vignetting, edge softness, and some distortion. Personally, I didn’t find the wide-angle very useful beyond quick creative experiments, but it’s a bonus if you want to play with it.
