I have never really been satisfied with the lighting conditions of my workspace. When I worked in a studio, it was too dark. I added track lighting, and there was too much glare. When I worked in an office, there was too much light where it wasn’t needed. And at my home desk, every lamp I tried was just not perfect.

So, I was excited to receive the Edge Light 2.0 with Base from Lumecube to review. The light was packed extremely well for shipping. Upon unboxing, it was a thing of beauty. I’m used to Lumecube’s exceptional product design, but it was nice to see they put the same level of effort into a desk lamp. As an aside, it was wonderful that the lamp’s modern aesthetic blended perfectly with my standup desk. But more importantly, I quickly saw that this was no ordinary desk lamp.

Lumecube sent us the Edge Light 2.0 with Base to review and keep. However, this is a completely independent review. All thoughts about this desk lamp are our own.

It shines as a desk lamp, but it’s so much more!

Lumecube Edge Light 2.0 with Base — Pleasing lighting

It’s a bright light with 112 LEDs that achieve 700 lumens. The CRI rating is 95+ to bring out accurate tones. Gone were the flickers of my prior LED lamp, and gone were the bright spots from other lamps.

Lumecube’s edge-lit technology is a design concept features LEDs that shine light from the edge inward. Then, the light reflects outward through multiple layers of diffusion. Whatever the science, this creates a perfectly soft even light that was immediately noticeable and enjoyable.

The touch controls were the right sensitivity to make quick and accurate adjustments. With a finger swipe, I could adjust color temperature from 2700-7500K and brightness from 1-100%. So, there’s a setting for every mood.

Lumecube Edge Light 2.0 with Base — Quality build

The aluminum construction has a pretty finish and seems durable. The weighted base ensures stability when maneuvering the positioning of the light. There are three pivot points to move the arm, which allow forward and backward motion. There is no sideways motion here, but a final pivot point allows for 360-degree rotation of the light source itself. All-in-all, I had no issues finding a perfect angle for my needs.

Lumecube Edge Light 2.0 with Base — WOW features

The design of the light allows its position to be quickly altered. So, I can have it positioned to evenly light my workspace. But, if I have to hop on a Zoom call, I can rotate the light source toward me, lower the brightness, and look fantastic on camera. Then, I can easily aim it toward my wall for some mood lighting if I’m sitting in another area of my office.

Another intelligent feature is the charge ports in the light stand. With USB-C and USB-A options, I can charge two devices simultaneously.
