Tamron has announced the development of Tamron Lens Utility Mobile, a dedicated application for smartphones and tablets running Android OS. Lens Utility Mobile provides consistent use in the field and expands the possibilities of video and still photography.

Expected to launch later this year, Lens Utility Mobile is the mobile counterpart to Tamron’s Lens Utility for PCs and Macs (read our review), originally released in October 2021. It enables the customization of various functions of select Tamron lenses to match the video and still photography style of the lens user. With Lens Utility Mobile, users can use a connection cable with their Android smart device to easily configure lens customizations without requiring a computer.

A new function that enables lens operations to be controlled from a smartphone has also been added. For instance, the A-B Focus function — letting users smoothly shift the focus from one preselected subject to another — can be setup without ever touching the lens. Further expansion is also possible, enabling users to become even more comfortable while getting started with video production.
