Heads up, Fujifilm macro photographers! If you’re still looking for the best macro lens to pair with your camera, we might just have an option for you. In today’s featured video, South Carolina-based Todd Kuhns recently got his hands on the Fujifilm 80mm f/2.8 and shared his experience with it.

Since Kuhns is a commercial and stock photographer, he naturally wanted to see how it would perform as a product photography lens. However, he also wanted to play around with it for its main purpose: shooting in macro mode. So, after a quick rundown of the settings and switches you’ll find on the lens, he took to his backyard and did some test snaps. The photos he shot were all uncropped, so we get an idea of what to expect from the images straight out of the camera.

The main consideration, however, is the size and weight of the Fujifilm 80mm f/2.8. If you’re not keen of lugging something as big and heavy as this lens all the time, you may think twice about getting this lens. Likewise, if you’re interested in macro but most likely won’t be shooting 1:1 magnification all the time, you may not make the most out of this lens.

In addition, Kuhns also reminded that this macro lens isn’t only great for close-up photography. They also make fabulous 80mm portrait lenses. So, if you ever decide to get this lens, make sure to experiment with other genres too!
