News of the newly-launched Leica SL3 are making rounds across photography circles. So we’re not surprised if you’re curious about how it handles. Fortunately, we have Ted Forbes of The Art of Photography sharing his insights on the new SL camera with a quick hands-on preview. If you’re wondering if this is a worthy addition to your Full Frame mirrorless camera collection, the quick answer is, it’s a good one. But if you want to know more about what makes it so good, definitely watch the video above!

As Forbes also noted, the new Leica SL3 now has a phase detection autofocus, which is a first for an SL camera. The latest flagship model in the mirrorless SL lineup also sports a more ergonomic design, a tilting screen, more touch capabilities for easier menu navigation.

Forbes was also invited to shoot with the Leica SL3 for around 24 hours. So, he had some sample snaps to share, along with some insights on the shooting experience. That includes videos, since its 60 megapixel tri-resolution sensor was also paired with the latest Maestro IV processor. With this bump in speed, you can now shoot up to 8K video and h.265 recording formats. You can also take advantage of the faster CFExpress card. As for the photos, the venue proved perfect for taking the Leica SL3 through its paces so we can see its color rendition, low light performance, noise and dynamic range. Finally, if you need your photos on your smartphone for on-the-go sharing, the USB-C connectivity allows super fast transfer speeds to mobile devices through the Leica FOTOS app.

So, based on Ted Forbes’ hands-on preview, is the Leica SL3 a mirrorless camera you’d be getting your hands on soon? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
