Hey Rich, adding one thing in the hope it’s helpful: Someone brought up at a camera group meeting that their D700 stopped for no reason during a time-lapse session when using the built in intervalometer. I mentioned that it happened to my D800, too, during a night sky time-lapse shoot in Arizona. One person there who was wise had the answer, and it works: The Nikon body will try to autofocus every time it takes a shot and if it can’t find focus during one of your timelapse shots, it can just hang there. That’s good advice. I always use a manual lens for timelapse. Manual focus and manual aperture to avoid autofocus and aperture flicker. Great use for old manual primes.
