On Friday, September 25th, Apple released the next addition to their industry-shaking smartphone, the iPhone. Customers who were fast enough to preorder either the iPhone 6s and/or the iPhone 6s Plus either queued up in front of their local Apple Store or had a courier deliver their unit(s) to their doors.
For the past year, I’ve used an unlocked 128Gb Silver iPhone 6 Plus and have been exceptionally pleased with it. So, when preorders for this next generation of smartphones went live, I stuck with what I knew and ordered an unlocked 128Gb Space Grey iPhone 6s Plus.
After spending most of launch day building and customizing my iPhone, I got a good sense of its new, marquee features3D Touch, Live Photos, and 4k videowork. From this, I recorded a video illustrating my favorite features and bringing up some of my gripes. Enjoy the video and don’t forget to set the quality to 4k (if your bandwidth supports it).

Great video! Have been considering going back to an iPhone but fear the difficulty in text communication with my wife’s Android. Decisions!
For the 3D touch app switcher feature you are supposed to press hard on the left edge of the screen until it activates. You aren’t supposed to press hard and slide your finger in one motion. Just be patient. It works just fine. Hope that helps. ?

iPhone 6s
You are absolutely correct, Darryl. After spending some more time with it, I realized the error of my ways. :) The problem was that when I saw the gesture being demoed on the keynote, it made it seem like you just need to press and slide over in one motion. Clearly that isn’t the case.
Apple does include a SIM card removal tool it is in the package with the apple stickers and documentation.
It seems that they do for international (ie. non US) phones. I’ve verified with several domestic friends and none have received a SIM tool in their packaging.
“It doesn’t include a sim removal pin”? iPhones have included these pins in their little white booklets for years. If you’d just open them *wink wink*
“They’d include some really cool pin”? Since a while back they included pins made from liquid metal, that’s as cool as a pin can get in my book.
I’ll shut up now and watch the rest of the review ;)
While there used to be one in that envelope… my new phone did not come with one either.
Yeah, it seems that Apple no longer includes it for US phones because they come pre-loaded with the SIM for the respective carrier that you would have had to specify upon checkout.
The iPhone 6 made me consider buying an apple device for the first time. Now this one’s making me seriously consider parting with my android.
How are the panos? I like taking panos with my iPhone 6 Plus. Yes I take some handheld shots with my DSLR to stitch together later. But really like being able to take a quick one with my iPhone. So much that I considered getting a Sony A6000 figuring that with it’s bigger, higher resolution sensor, the “sweep panoramas” would be even better. However, in panorama mode, Sony severely cuts back on the resolution. So it would be great if the 6S/6S Plus increases the resolution by 50% over the 6/6 Plus. Also, 4K video is fine but I’d be… Read more »
