I’ve been “collecting” quotes about photography for some time, so when I decided to put together this post with my 10 favorites quotes, it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. So, after much thought (okay, some thought) here are my 10 favorites (in no particular order):
1. You don’t have to be crazy to succeed as a photographer, but it sure helps. It’s okay to be crazy, but not stupid. – Cliff Hollenbeck
2. When your mouth drops open, click the shutter. – Harold Feinstein
3. When people ask what equipment I use – I tell them my eyes. – Anonymous
4. What use is having a great depth of field, if there is not an adequate depth of feeling? – W. Eugene Smith
5. Ultimately, my hope is to amaze myself. The anticipation of discovering new possibilities becomes my greatest joy. – Jerry Uelsmann
6. A technically perfect photograph can be the world’s most boring picture. – Andreas Feininger
7. If you are out there shooting, things will happen for you. If you’re not out there, you’ll only hear about it. – Jay Maisel
8. In the business of portrait photography, one must combine the artist and the craftsman. – Louis Fabian Bachrach
9. Look and think before opening the shutter. The heart and mind are the true lens of the camera. – Yousuf Karsh
10. One photo out of focus is a mistake, ten photos out of focus are an experimentation, one hundred photos out of focus are a style. – Anonymous
There is 3 key things for good photography: the camera, lighting and… Photoshop – Tyra Banks
I especially like numer 6! Great posting…
I love #3. Great photos aren’t really based on what equipment you use or how expensive your gears are. It’s really based on what you see with your own eyes. =)
