Jim DiVitale, commercial photographer, educator, writer, mentor and artist died on December 13, 2016 at the Hospice Atlanta Center surrounded by is wife and friends. Jim or “Jimmy D” shared his knowledge of photography, Photoshop, digital capture and generous spirit with everyone he met. Jim’s passion for photography led him to teach at the Art Institute of Atlanta, for the Professional Photographers of America, at Orvieto Fotographia, Fotofusion, and at thirty Photoshop World conventions starting in 1999.
Jim is a dear friend whose spirit and love of photography and life will be missed by all he touched.
This is one of many reasons why I love Photofocus. If I wasn’t following, then I wouldn’t have heard the very sad news about Jim DiVitale. Thank you so much Photofocus and Kevin Ames for posting this. I’m just so heartbroken over the news. I’ve taken several of Jim’s classes at Photoshop World since I started attending. Love him and his work and his wife Helene. Both have incredible souls! Jim will be dearly missed!
I’m devastated by the lost of Jim. I looked forward to seeing him each year at Photoshopworld. He was kind, selfless, a great artist, and a good man.
I always made time to catch his class at Photoshop World. He was an inspiring teacher and always full of life. He will be missed, condolences to his family
So sad to hear of Jim’s passing. We ran into each other often at conventions and shows and he was always excited about something new.
