What is a Platypod?
A Platypod is a versatile compact designed base ideal for supporting cameras to capture below-angle shots and for situations where traditional tripods are cumbersome or impractical.
Mounting your Camera
This video shows how to replace your tripod by mounting your camera to a Platypod with a Ball Head. This gives you a solid base allowing you to place your camera in places that are impractical for tripods. Use the included spikes to level the base on uneven surfaces.
Nice piece of gear and very inexpensive. But I was wondering, why couldn’t a caddie cam with a cheese plate do the same thing? It can be placed just about anywhere. It has adjustable legs and when you’re ready to move to another location, you can grab the caddie and go. Very versatile to use for shooting still and videos or even mounting on a tri-pod if needed.
It’s nice, but you can’t add a studio strobe or attach it to a pole. The Platypod is very versatile for studio and location use.
Thanks for the reply Vanelli. I’ll keep this in mind when I start look to add to my equipment. The more I know, the better. And thanks to folks you, you make learning a lot of fun and easier.
