It’s not every day that you get directly challenged by a conspiracy theorist to prove them wrong. So when UK-based Dave McKeegan got one some months ago, he couldn’t resist. The challenge? To photograph the International Space Station (ISS) to prove that it exists.

The challenger, despite the fact that so many people have photographed an ISS-shaped object countless times, was resolute on his belief that the ISS is fake. But if McKeegan himself could manage to photograph it — despite being confident that the photographer won’t actually do it — he promised to concede and apologize. So, what’s a photographer like McKeegan to do? Accept the challenge, of course!

Despite his own misgivings that the conspiracy theorist would be as dismissive of his efforts as he was with the rest, McKeegan gave it a go. He explained his process in the video above, from tracking the transit of the ISS to the challenges he had to work around for this assignment.

So, if you’re curious about his results or want to try it yourself, make sure to watch the video to the end!
