When I first started photography I set myself the challenge of only using Manual mode. This was mostly so that I could learn to put my creative vision into practise no matter what. It was a steep learning curve and I ended up with lots of unusable images due to over or under exposure. A few years later and I am very comfortable with all the manual controls but the downside of this is I find it really difficult to shoot in Av or Tv mode!
I use Manual Mode 90 to 95% of the time but I love the other 5 to 10% of the time I’m in Aperture Priority, too. It certainly has its uses. For what I shoot Shutter Priority is useless so I never use it.
i use manual exposure about 90 per cent of the time to lock in the exposure. when fighting low light, though, the exposure combination of shutter priority and auto iso is invaluable. i have never found a reason to use aperture priority, though.
