He may be retired but before he hung up his camera strap, Scott Bourne penned his last book.
Photofocus and Think Tap Learn Publishing are proud to announce that Scott Bourne’s new book is available. It’s a collection of Scott’s most inspirational essays and photography. Scott’s gathered 40 years of photographic knowledge and condensed it down into 72 concise, but revealing essays. Each essay also includes on of his favorite photos.
My simple goal in gathering these essays is to give you a chance to learn from my mistakes; to encourage you; and to let you know it is possible to follow your dreams and find the success you are looking for.
What this book won’t do for you is tell you which camera, lens or tripod to buy. It won’t teach you which shutter speed, ISO or aperture to use. What it will do is help you with the hard part of photography. It helps you work out the thoughtful side of the art form.
So please try to read these essays with an open mind and an open heart. I hope they help you soar. Remember, you have to take the first step.
The new book is available on Kindle today. The Kindle app can be used on the following platforms:
- Android phone or tablet,
- iPad or iPhone
- Mac
- Windows PC, tablet, or Phone
- BlackBerry
The iBook version of the book will be released soon.

Got the kindle version last week and I’m enjoying it thoroughly. As an ancient photographer I find it to be spot on. Don’t rush through it but savor it thoroughly. Think about the wisdom being shared in the thoughts of other photographer s used to lead off each essay. If you don’t recognize their name, look them up. This book is not techniques but the heart of photography.
Bill, thank you. I too was moved reading the book and feel it helps photographers gain access to the soul and vision part of our craft.
