This is a guest post by Skip Cohen. Be sure to check out Skip Cohen University August 11-14 in Chicago. A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him. He is doing us a favor by giving us an opportunity to do so. Mahatma Gandhi A year ago I joined Trip Advisor. The reason was a request from one of our favorite … [Read more...] about Consumer Strength: The Power of Social Media

I know everybody would love to just close the book on 2012, but even though we're half way through this new year, think about last year for a minute. As you analyze last year, think about what you really need to do better, instead of blaming things on what you think is a boring name, logo or site design, the "frosting". So often we all do the same thing - we blame the challenges on the "low hanging fruit", the easiest things we might … [Read more...] about Are You Tired of Your Image?

I just got home last night from Skip's Summer School. I've been honored to be on the faculty at this event for all four years. It was amazing to present alongside some of the biggest and best names in the photo industry for a lovely, engaged and enthusiastic audience. The energy in the packed room was amazing. I love these boutique conferences where you get to spend quality time with people that you admire, respect and even love in the industry. While every seat was full, there weren't so many people there that you couldn't connect. One of … [Read more...] about Passion & Photography – Notes From My Presentation At Skip’s Summer School
It's WPPI week here in Vegas. Since I live here now, it's no big deal for me to head over to the show. My pal Skip Cohen and I taught alongside Michele Celentano at the GoingPro bootcamp on Saturday at the same time WPPI was running their bootcamp. On Sunday, Matthew Jordan Smith and I taught a two hour class for SmugMug at the Vegas SMUG and on Monday I devoted myself to looking at the trade show and meeting with vendors, clients, sponsors and friends who in town for the event. Here are a few observations. The show is a bit smaller this year … [Read more...] about Observations From WPPI
Guest Post by Skip Cohen I recently saw an email blast from my buddy George Varanakis at Rangefinder/WPPI. He listed the top ten reasons not to miss WPPI. Personally, I'd drop a few and add a few, one of them being your ability to interact with vendor after vendor to help strengthen your business. I'd also add, one trip to Vegas gets you exposed to hundreds of new products and concepts, one of them being GoingPro Bootcamp. A trip to Las Vegas in February isn't just about WPPI anymore. It's about adding new building blocks to your business and … [Read more...] about Come To Vegas To Learn How To Become A Professional Photographer
