I’m always on the lookout for affordable apps that do cool things. Well I’ve found another one, PicFrame that makes Photo Collages simple. The app sells for 99 and is available for Mac, iOS, Droid, and Blackberry (it seems the developer hasn’t gotten around to Windows or Windows Phone).

The app is very straightforward (although the mobile version offers a few more features). To start you choose a layout using frames. The app currently ships with 71 adjustable frames offering support for up to 9 photos in a single frame.

You have a few controls for the frames (it is a 99 app). On the desktop you can round out the corners as well as change the background color and page size. The ratios supported are very standard 1:1, 3:2, 2:3, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9. Pictures are easy to size and position within a frame so they can be masked. You can also change the layout after adding images to a frame.

The mobile version offers the ability to change the shape of the frame. Frames are more easily sized to custom ratios and there are even options to add text and labels. Images can also be filtered for a specific look (the desktop version lacks this feature, so make sure the images are modified prior to loading).

Once done, its easy to output the finished collage at different resolutions. There are also several sharing options (which vary slightly by platform) including Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.

PicFrame is available for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and Blackberry.
