Screen Shot 2013-12-09 at 9.15.59 PMBryan O’Neil Hughes is the Senior Product Manager for Photoshop and a pinch hitter for the Lightroom team. Since 1999 he has helped test, drive, demonstrate, and lead development of Adobe’s professional digital imaging applications. Not only was he on our latest podcast, but we’re also thrilled to have Bryan on our next Google+ hangout.

Bryan started collecting cameras at age 7 and using Photoshop at version 3.0, but it was when he saw a demo of Photoshop 4.0 that he knew he had to become a part of the Adobe team. He moved to the Bay Area with the single-minded intent to work at Adobe. In 1999, luck and constant nagging prevailed when Bryan became a member of the Photoshop team. I had the chance to speak with Bryan to learn about the next generation of digital imaging tools and workflows from Adobe. Our conversation starts around 33:20.

Bryans first years on the team were as a Quality Engineer, User Advocate and liaison to developers. As a tester Bryan essentially spent hisdays doing everything in his power to break Photoshop with in-depth real world testing. He was responsible for Liquify, and worked very closely on the user experience.

Bryan is the Photoshop team’s primary worldwide spokesman and can often be found leading seminars, user groups, and workshops. Before joining Adobe, he was a professional photographer and retoucher. Beyond Adobe, Hughes is a published photographer, editor, and author. He is also a driving instructor for the BMW Car Club of America. When he isn’t driving very quickly, he enjoys running marathons very slowly. Bryan was inducted into the Photoshop Hall of Fame in 2011.

Here is a quick tip from Bryan about the Color Lookup Adjustment Layers in Photoshop.
