I always shoot raw+JPEG(medium) unless I’m shooting a timelapse, in which case I’m shooting JPEG only because I’m coming home with thousands of images (which will mainly be batch-processed) and I don’t want to deal with the overhead of raw in that instance.
For everything else, I absolutely shoot raw + medium sized JPEG. Been doing that for years and it works well.
You need one more category, which ever one makes sense for what I’m shooting :) For instance, if I’m shooting sports in nice light, I may shoot them in JPEG simply to save processing time. I don’t have to worry about recovering shadows. But for games indoors or under the lights outside, I shoot RAW to recover shadows a bit better. Most of the time I shoot RAW, but there are times like with the Olympus Art filters where you have to shoot JPG to get the effect. In those cases I usually shoot RAW + JPEG. If I know… Read more »
