A photo hiding on your hard drive is no place for a photo at all! Unfortunately if you’re anything like me, most of the images we take never see the light of day. This is where a social media can come in really handy. Not only do sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ give you access to people of similar interests all over the world, they also give you a platform to share your own photos on!

Not too long ago Twitter updated the design of their web profiles. This moved the focus from strictly 140 character tweets and links, to something we can really appreciate photos! You can find their official introduction .

Bigger Images

The biggest change is that they’ve done away with the background image and increased the size of your header images. You can now showcase one of your favorite photos at a big a beautiful 1500 x 500 pixels, this is HUGE! Now don’t forget your pretty mug either. The new avatar image (your headshot) can be up to 400 x 400 pixels in size. Twitter supports all the common file types (JPG, GIF, or PNG), so just pick a format, export your image at 72 ppi and upload away!

Embed Photos

Another great upgrade is the embedded photo. Embedded photos in your tweet show up big and beautifully in your stream, rather than requiring you to host a picture elsewhere and then relying on a text link to share it. This means less clicking links and more marveling at each others imagery.

Pin Tweets

Finally there is the ability to pin a tweet. This is the perfect opportunity to find one of your tweets that has an embedded photo in it and pin, or stick, it to the top of your stream so that a photo is one of the first things that visitors see when cruising your profile.

After youre done updating your Twitter profile make sure to swing by mine and drop me line!
