Photograph: “Miroir d’Eau Pt. 2 – Sprint” by Verity Milligan (username “Verity Milligan” on Flickr).

Why I picked this image: When I saw this image for the first time, I had to pause and think if I knew the photographer behind it? It reminded me of an image by Elliott Erwitt. But I also saw similarities to some images from Henri Cartier-Bresson.

The photographer who captured this image is Verity Milligan from the U.K.

Verity is best known for her beautiful landscape photography. But her skill and eye for a great composition and timing in a street scene is clearly shown in this fantastic, timeless image. The architecture, sun and perfect silhouette and reflection of the little kid running against the fog make this an iconic street photo to me.

And have you caught the other kid running parallel in the fog gap further to the left? That is why I always say “take time to study an image closely!” :)
