Why I picked this image:

Street photographers have an eye to see the extraordinary in the ordinary and document these scenes with their camera. Ivan captured a beautiful silent moment of a woman daydreaming and looking out of a train window. Quite an ordinary scene that you may have seen many times. But in 2016 I don’t see many of these silent moments in big city public transportation anymore. Today, the majority of people are immersed in their smartphones, tablets or music.

I remember when I was taking photos of people in Tokyo who were immersed in their mobile phones on trains and subways in the year 2000. Back then, that was a novelty to me. Today it is the other way around. Be conscious and curious of your environment and use your camera to look for and document changes over time. Who knows what people will find unique of 2016 and 2017 in 15 or 30 years time..?
