Photographer: Alex Robson “Black Dress”
Photofocus photographer of the day, Alex Robson draws inspiration from classic Chanel to portray this full length black dress. The single black glove with bracelet matches her necklace. The hair and makeup by Mandy of Strawberry Blonde evokes the mid twentieth century. Robson honors the aesthetic of past masters like Horst P. Horst, Richard Avedon and Irving Penn.

This looks so much like one of Irving Penn’s photographs – the crop, the background, the pose of the model, the dress. I would say the inspiration for this image was Irving Penn, not Chanel.
I agree Claudia! Chanel’s dresses provided inspiration for not only Irving Penn. Her fashions were also regarded photographically by Avedon, Horst, Newton and others. The setting of the photo in front of the canvas backdrop is very “Penn!”
