Why I picked this image: When curating this weeks featured street photo, this image from Alessandro jumped out right at me. Although my street photos are generally more than 90% in B&W, here I really like the warmth of the classic Kodachrome style look.
The wall with the shadow of the street lamp in itself would already have made a very nice artistic image. The light circles on the wall look like light sources that we get in the bokeh when shooting at wide apertures. But the addition of the business man on his mobile phone pulling his trolley give this image also a documentary character of this decade’s every day life.
And to me a good image always gains more power when it tells a story. And I’m starting to make up all kinds of stories about this image. Where did he come from and where is he going? Who is on the phone? His boss, significant other or a customer?
And the shadow of the leg almost looks like he has three legs. That can be seen as aeuphemism for having to hustle hard in todays fast paced working environment.
