Shooting the Photo

The shot was made in late October with myself Jay Clapp and model Steph Owens.

  • It was shot in Blackpool in the northwest of England.
  • Gear used was my Sony Alpha A77 camera with my 24-70 Sigma 2.8 EX DG lens.
  • The shot itself is an expanded shot consisting of around roughly 13 shots totaling 11.2gig file size.

Processing the Photo

Post processing wise, I exported from Lightroom into Photoshop as a panorama and let Photoshop do its thing. I then went in and tidied the results up using the created masks to choose the correct poses. I wanted to tidy up any artifacts that Photoshop had left behind. I then merged it all to a single layer.
As you will see from the breakout there was a headland coming from the left this was remedied by selecting it with the Quick Selection tool and deleting the headland then using the selection of the sky to warp the sky down into the position that the land mass was
finished off with the clone stamp tool to tidy it up.
Next off the people were all cloned out to clean up the scene because i wanted to retain that massive feeling to the image and didn’t want any distractions.
The image was then saved and re-imported back into lightroom where i treated the image as a whole doing tonal adjustments and curves along with adding multiple vignettes to increase the percieved depth so the eye is taken where i want it too.
