“I was out on a job a few weeks ago to photograph a home in the Santa Monica Mountains and I was scheduled to shoot a couple exterior twilights, so I showed up about 45 minutes early to scope it out, set up a strobe or two, and find my angles. When I entered the the house to turn on all the lights, I wasn’t prepared for what I saw when I walked back outside. The camera was already set and locked on the tripod, but I had to capture this, so I ran to my car, grabbed my second camera and snapped a dozen or so frames before I had to get back to earning my paycheck.

If anyone is familiar with the painfully obscene water shortage and drought Southern California has had this year, theyll understand and believe me when I say that this was Mother Nature throwing party streamers into the air and all her wonderful children standing up and rejoicing along with her, for the night before this image was the first real rain Southern California had seen in almost 12 months. Obviously, the Southlands human residents weren’t the only ones feeling the magical effects of hydration.”
